On January 22 , the second year of the concert cycle called STYLE EVENINGS started in the Great Hall at the New Town Hall . At the meeting with classical music of different styles with the name PEARLS OF CZECH MUSIC, followed the artistically successful concerts in the past year. This time the audience was delighted with the music of baroque composers Vejvanovský, Zach and charming valse –dances of A. Dvorak.

A real pearl of Czech music was a well-known, popular Dvorak’s Humoresque. This piece was featured in an impressive interpretation of violinist Miroslav Vilímec, accompanied by chambre orchestra HARMONIA PRAGA - formerly Harmony Prague - under the baton and in a successful arrangement of conductor Štefan Britvík.

The dramaturgical highlight of the evening was Suite by L. Janacek, a piece that attracted the audience as well as a moving and impressive Serenade no. 2 by B. Martinů, composer, whose anniversary is this year concert cycle dedicated.

An informal accompanying commentary of M. Vilímec contributed to the atmosphere of the concert.

In spring, on March 5, the STYLE EVENINGS will continue with the evening /concert titled VIVAT MOZART.

As the tribute to this musical genius the orchestra will perform his popular Symphony in A Major, KV 201 and also Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola, KV 364 with soloists J. Novakova and O. Martinovský.

A following piece of music Mazurka – Nocturne for oboe and chamber string orchestra by B.Martinů will serve as a dividing line among various periods of Mozart´s work.

The next of Style Evenings, this time under the name of Music across the centuries will take place April 16, where besides others - Vivaldi bassoon concerto (with soloist P. Nemecek), music by J.S Bach, as well as L.Bernstein, B.Martinů and contemporary Czech composer J.Teml will be heard. Once again with the chamber orchestra HARMONIA PRAGA under the baton of conductor Štefan Britvík.

Listeners can look forward to more artistic experiences, in a comfortable atmosphere of acoustically perfect music hall of the New Town Hall in Prague 2.
